New Belgium Brewing Company

500 Linden Street
Fort Collins, CO 80524

History

The New Belgium Brewering Company is Fort Collins’ largest microbrewery.  It got its start after founder Jeff Lebesch visited Belgium.  He was so interested in Belgian brewing techniques and ingredients, that he decided to create his own home brew when he returned home.  The two beers he created were Abbey and Fat Tire (the company’s flagship beer to this day).

New Belgium’s Beers

The regular beers produced by New Belgium Brewing Company include:

-Abbey

Along with their regular assortment of beers, they release 4 seasonal beers:

Additionally, New Belgium offers a variety of small batch brews in their tasting room.  These beers are always changing, and are the result of the brewers at play.  The Lips of Faith beers include:

-Drak Kriek

Tasting Room/ Brewery Tours

The tasting room is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 – 6, and is free.  Beers on tap in the tasting room change often, and some cannot be purchased in stores.  One-hour guided brewery tours are offered Tuesday through Friday 1pm to 3:30pm leaving every half hour, and on Saturday from 11am to 3pm on the half hour as well.  The tours are limited to twenty people and are offered on a first come first serve basis.

Sustainability

New Belgium is has committed to being environmentally friendly, and has even made it a goal to become entirely wind powered.  Rather than directly using wind-generated power, the brewery elects to pay an increased rate for their electrical energy, which is supplied by the City of Fort Collins Utilities in order to ensure it comes from the cleanest source possible.  About 10% of the brewery’s power comes from methane gas created as a byproduct of their on-site water treatment plant.
